Rebecca Gould is a multi-disciplinary artist. She works with sculpture, video and text, her installations explore labour, often through non-braided narrative writing, quilting and other acts of obsessive care.
Gould critically examines the intersection of work, capital, and domesticity, particularly focusing on how these factors shape the UK’s fractured society, the collective effect this has on individuals, how to eradicate professionalism and to live as a collective.
She co-founded, STUDIO CYBI, an artist-led project that came from a desire to collaborate and create occasional manifestations, acting as both a nucleus of productivity and a social venture, which encompasses; exhibitions, events, public commissions and publications. They were awarded a Create grant, The Arts Council of Wales, to publish their manifesto, encapsulating their philosophy of shared autonomy and grassroots art, 2022. They were awarded The Artes Mundi Venice10 commission 2023.
Gould is currently working on her first novella (working title) The Southstack Fleawort, a tale of a middle aged breakdown.
She was selected for the ARCADECAMPFA Library Residency 2024
